The above pin dish was created by Herman August Kähler Pottery which operated in Nestved, Denmark (on Zealand) from 1839-1974. Originally the company produced water jugs, all-night burners, and items for household use, but beginning in about 1901 began moving toward art pottery such as vases and decorative bowls.
Many of the company’s pieces show strong influences from local folk pottery, while others, particularly those created by Nils Kahler, have a decidedly modern feeling. A number of well-known designers and artists developed pieces at Kahler, including Sven Hammershoj , Gete Petersen, Nils Kahler, Jens Thirslund, and others.
